Electric Vehicle Charger Installation

Electric vehicles are undoubtably the future of transportation. Over the next few years, we’ll continue to be see a huge shift as the old technology is steadily replaced. As a residential homeowner interested in switching to an electric vehicle, this will require two main investments, one into the car itself and the other into its charging station(s). The charger installation generally requires either one or two steps: Installation of the charger or outlet and / or a panel or service upgrade, depending on your current electrical capacities. Sauga Electric can help with both installations.

There are currently many options for chargers, depending on brand. Some charger installations are very affordable and quick to install while others require a larger upfront investment that will offer a much quicker charge time. There’s lots of options and home owners in Mississauga and the GTA can always call us for a free assessment.

If speed of charging is your main interest than you’re likely looking at having a Level 2 charging port installed. Depending on the current electrical service to your house as well as your usage, a service upgrade may be required. The amount of electricity that a house can provide is calculated when a house is first built using general usage calculations. Many houses that were built 15 years ago or earlier would not have accounted for the potential use of an EV charger in the future which sometimes creates the need for a service upgrade now. In some situations a service upgrade is not necessary and the electrician will simply install the charger using your current service.

What kind of charger should you use? What kind of EV charger outlet do you need? How much does an electric vehicle charger installation cost? Please feel free to reach out to us, a free estimate is always available with Sauga Electric and your upgrade options will be clearly laid out for you to consider. We offer Level 1 and 2 installations and always recommend hiring a professional, especially for this service.
