Licensed Electrical Contractor (LEC)

The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) is the governing body that regulates who is qualified to provide electrical services here in Ontario. Only Licensed Electrical Contractors are legally permitted to provide electrical services to residential and commercial projects in Ontario. This means that a licensed electrician must work under the management of an LEC. Michael of Sauga Electric has been a Licensed Electrical Contractor since the spring of 2021.

Master Electrician

The Electrical Safety Authority provides the opportunity to qualify as a Master Electrician to Licensed Electricians who have gained at least three years of experience in their field as a licence holder. The Master Electrician certification is a necessary qualification for all electricians seeking a business license in their trade. Michael of Sauga Electric gained his Masters in the Spring of 2020.

Licensed / Journeyman Electrician

The Journeyman Electrician certification test is available after a five year apprenticeship working under a Licensed Electrical Contractor in Ontario. This initial qualification is conducted and continuously regulated by the Ontario College of Trades.

Our Story

Back in 2005, in suburban Mississauga, Michael was pushing a broom in the dingy shop of an electrical company as a labourer. After the excitement of sweeping the floor and doing coffee runs for the electricians wore off, he started learning the ropes. A natural trouble shooter, Michael quickly started rising in the ranks and began his electrical apprenticeship. He was eventually recruited into a new company that specialized in commercial, petroleum electrical renovations and construction for Canadian Tire. With this company, he gained his electrical license, 10 years of electrical and management experience and became a Master Electrician.

In his time with Canadian Tire, Michael became one of a select few people in Canada able to do his job. He ran full sites at an unexpectedly young age and became adept at organization, efficiency and problem solving. The role involved a heavy emphasis on safety and almost no room for error. The gas and electrical niche is one that few companies specialize in due to the extra training and risk involved. Michael was eventually offered partnership in the company that subcontracted to Canadian Tire but opted out to run his own business, what is now Sauga Electric.

These days, Michael enjoys the simplicity of residential, electrical work in Mississauga. Trading in an arduous travel schedule and a crew of trades people for proximity to family and the freedom of entrepreneurship afforded by local repairs and installations in his hometown.

Okay, enough about Michael. Sauga Electric is also comprised of Sarah, the wife, and Kirby, the mutt. Together we provide reliable, consistent, affordable, electrical repair service to the people of Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area. Sarah runs some of the day-to-day business, like scheduling and bookkeeping and anything that involves talking excessively (like this website, for instance). The mutt provides moral support and reluctant mascottery.
